Sexual Minorities Liaison Committee

Since 1992, the Sexual Minorities Liaison Committee (SMLC), a group of volunteer community members, has worked with Edmonton Police Service (EPS) for the public safety and security needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirited, and queer (LGBTQ) community.

  • Are you concerned about your safety?
  • Have you been threatened, called names, or attacked for being LGBTQ?
  • Are you wondering if you have been the target of a hate crime?
  • Are you fearful of the police because you are LGBTQ?
  • Do you have a complaint about how police treated you?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, we’re here to help. The Sexual Minorities Liaison Committee can support you while you report a crime and help you get professional and nonjudgmental police service and support. We also advocate for the inclusion of our community in all aspects of the Edmonton Police Service.

To help accomplish these important goals, we meet on a regular basis with the police service. We also hold public town hall meetings and community events where everyone’s voice can be heard.

If you have a problem, get in touch with the SMLC. All inquiries are completely confidential and your information will not be shared with the police service without your explicit permission.

You can E-mail the SMLC at EPSLGBTQ@yahoo.ca or visit us on Facebook: Edmonton Police Service Sexual Minorities Liaison Committee
