Deputy Chief David Korol

Deputy Chief David Korol joined the Edmonton Police Service in 1978 in Recruit Class #48. He graduated with the highest academic and overall standing in his class.

He spent several years as a constable in Warrant and Document Services, Training Section, Patrol Division and Crime Scene Examination. He was promoted to detective in Criminal Investigations Section and then was transferred to sergeant in Crime Scene Examination in 1989. Deputy Chief Korol became a sergeant in the Recruiting Unit and was promoted to staff sergeant in the Police Staff Unit in 1992. He was a staff sergeant in South Division and the Bureau Administration Section prior to becoming the superintendent of West Division in 1997.

Over the next ten years, Deputy Chief Korol was a superintendent of Special Projects, Human Resources, Special Investigations, and most recently Downtown Division. He started his position as Deputy Chief of Specialized Community Support Bureau on April 2, 2007. In November 2009, Deputy Chief Korol moved from Specialized Community Support Bureau to Corporate Services Bureau.

While with the EPS, Deputy Chief Korol completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree as well as his Public Administration Certificate.

Career highlights include leading the planning and deployment of EPS resources during the World Championships in Athletics. This assignment provided the opportunity to work with individuals from the organizing committee, other police agencies, and a wide variety of police officers within the EPS.
