West Division

West Division is located at 16505-100 Avenue. The boundaries extend from the Whitemud Drive to the northern and western city limits. The eastern boundary begins at 121 Street and Jasper Avenue running north to the Yellowhead Trail then north on 127 Street.

More than 170 officers and support staff serve the communities that fall within the borders of West Division. “Walk-in” police service is also available at the division station, which is staffed by several officers and volunteers from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily.

Working in the Community

Throughout 2010, officers at the street level will be focused on working with the community, with greater emphasis on problem solving to prevent repeat occurrences, crime prevention, and the detection of offenders. Traffic safety and reduction of violent crimes will also remain a high priority in West Division and throughout the city.

There are many tools that are used to gather information and statistics from West Division communities, but feedback from citizens, businesses, and agencies on issues in their communities helps immensely to identify the real issues, prioritize work, and provide the best response to emerging concerns.

In 2010, West Division officers look forward to working with all partners in the community to continue to develop best practises and new and innovative ways of problem solving. The overall objective is to reduce crime by a further 10 per cent this year and to ensure that Edmonton is a safe place where anyone would want to live. This can be achieved together.
