West Division - District A4

District A4 encompasses 11 residential communities. It shares borders with Districts A1 and A3, which means officers from those areas can respond to your community when serious events occur.

A significant portion of District A4 is known as the Northwest Industrial and Winterburn Industrial zones. A wide variety of commercial and industrial businesses operate in District A4. There are also two large undeveloped areas known as Rural West Big Lake and Rural West Lewis Farms.

The district is also home to West Edmonton Mall – presently policed by a sergeant and four foot patrol (beat) officers and three station constables operating out of the Summerlea Community Station.

District A4 is served primarily by patrol officers supported by your community team consisting of a community sergeant and community liaison constable.

Community Initiatives

The community team responsible for District A4 have often sought the assistance of dedicated community volunteers to assist in monitoring these large industrial and rural pockets. The Citizen Police Radio Network (CPRN), in partnership with the police, has had an impact in lowering the number of occurrences within the far-reaching corners of the division.

Routinely, officers also spend time proactively patrolling in and around the hotel zone known as "Place La Rue" – which is home to 13 hotels and motels. Recognizing the value in ensuring that visitors enjoy our western hospitality and city attractions, police have also worked closely with hotel mangers to address any emerging concerns relating to crime and disorder.
