Employment

All applications are processed in the order of which they are received. Processing time varies depending on volume, however you should receive your clearance in the mail approximately three weeks after submission. We are experiencing a high volume at the present time. We appreciate your patience as we are trying to accommodate everyone's request.  Police Information Checks are available for pick-up. Please request this service at the front counter.

You can submit your application at one of our many Community or Division Stations. If you have a criminal record however, you will need to attend headquarters for verification fingerprints. Fingerprints are required to compare to those on file to an individual and then identify the applicant to their criminal record.

Application forms can obtained at Police Headquarters or any Community Station.

The period of validity depends on the agency requesting the check. Each agency has its own procedures, requirements and risk management. Please contact the requesting agency for more information. The Edmonton Police Service does not provide bonding certification. Consult your local yellow pages to find an agency that offers this service.

Employers may request you have a Vulnerable Sector Search included in your check. A Vulnerable Sector Search is included for anyone who will be working with a person or organization responsible for the well-being of children under the age of 18 or with vulnerable persons who, because of their age, a disability, or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent, are in a position of dependence on others or are otherwise at greater risk than the general population of being harmed by person in a position of authority or trust relative to them as authorized under the Criminal Records Act.
