Dispatchers work out of Edmonton Police Service facilities dispatching and directing civilian volunteer community patrol members ensuring the prompt, efficient and safe deployment of patrol members to locations of interest as directed by the attending police officer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular contact with community patrol members which includes geographic tracking and safety updates.
- Liaison with EPS police member providing community members with specific directions and assignments.
- Maintain paperwork and appropriate logs on community patrol members.
Skills Required:
* Please note that it is not required for dispatchers to drive as part of their volunteer duties.
- Residence in the area served by the Community Station.
- Ability to understand the mandate and services of the EPS, as well as the hierarchical chain of command and follow directions within that structure.
- Excellent grasp of English language.
- Solid writing and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Punctual and dependable.
- Sound geographic knowledge of the neighbourhood.
- Self-motivated and ability to take appropriate initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to learn and use appropriate radio procedures.
- Ability to attend all required training events.
