Speed watch is an educational initiative aimed at reducing incidents of speeding in residential communities. Volunteers set up a photo radar unit with a display screen indicating the speed of oncoming traffic. It is designed to raise public awareness of the actual speeds drivers are traveling. The Speed Watch program is conducted in partnership with the Edmonton Police Service, City of Edmonton and concerned community residents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform duties competently and safely
- Pick up the equipment prior to scheduled shift the specified Police Facility and return when finished.
- Set up the equipment in a safe location.
- Keep accurate and legible records
- Address public concerns and questions respectfully and courteously
Skills Required:
- Ability to understand the mandate and services of the EPS, as well as the hierarchical chain of command and make appropriate referrals within that structure.
- Ability to transport and set up equipment.
- Demonstrated calm, pleasant, and respectful customer service skills.
- Solid writing and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Punctual and dependable.
- Self-motivated and ability to take appropriate initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a variety of personalities.
- Ability to attend all required training events.
