Public information and warning: Sexual offender released

In the interest of public safety, the Edmonton Police Service is issuing the following warning; Corey Smith is a convicted sexual offender and the Edmonton Police Service has reasonable grounds to believe he will commit another sexual offence against someone under the age of 16 while in the community.

Smith will be residing in the Edmonton area. The Edmonton Police Service is seeking a recognizance order on Smith and he will be monitored by the Behavioral Assessment Unit of the Edmonton Police Service.

Height: 5’9”

Weight: 166 lbs

Eyes: Green

Hair: Red/brown


Smith has been placed on a series of court ordered conditions, which include:


  • Must not purchase, possess or consume alcohol or illicit drugs, including marijuana.

  • Must not enter any licensed premise, other than a dining room for the sole purpose of having a meal. Must not enter any liquor store.

  • Must not be in possession of any weapons, including knives (unless for the sole purpose of eating a meal).

  • Must not acquire, possess or access pornography or sexually explicit material in any form or on any type of media.

  • Must not own, use or possess a computer, or any technological device, including cell phone, without prior approval

  • Must not access the internet unless required solely for work purposes, while at work.

  • Must not be within 100 meters around places where children under the age of 18 are likely to congregate, i.e. elementary schools, daycare centers, parks, swimming pools, recreational centers, youth shelters, libraries.

  • Must not be in the presence of any children under the age 18, unless accompanied by an approved adult aware of his criminal history.


The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community.
