MRU #:TR17R027

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigations Unit is investigating a fatal collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle that occurred late Sunday evening on Parsons Road, claiming the life of a 29-year-old male motorcycle driver.

Southeast Division patrol officers responded to a 911 call made by another motorist driving near the collision scene at approximately 11 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, on Parsons Road just south of the Anthony Henday overpass.

Upon arrival, EPS officers found a deceased male motorcyclist lying in the middle of Parsons Road. A vehicle being driven by an on coming motorist came to rest in a ditch on the east side of Parsons Road.

Although the investigation is still in its preliminary stages at this time, investigators believe the motorcyclist was travelling northbound, while the 32-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was travelling southbound on Parsons Road, when the two vehicles collided.

No charges have been laid at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

Motorists travelling through southeast Edmonton are advised to avoid Parsons Road between 12th Avenue (South Common Wal-Mart) and Ellwood Drive, located south of the Anthony Henday overpass, until further notice.
