Best Bar None program recognizes 42 Edmonton bars

06-Dec-2011

42 Edmonton pubs, clubs, bars and lounges have achieved Best Bar None (BBN) certification for their commitment to responsible service and safe operations.

On November 23, Responsible Hospitality Edmonton hosted the BBN Awards night.

Superintendent Doucette spoke at the November 23 ceremonies: “The Edmonton Police Service is proud to be a partner in Best Bar None.”

“We’re deeply committed to building on our relationship with the hospitality industry,” he continued.

Best Bar None aims to reduce alcohol-related harms by raising the operating standards of licensed premises as well as building positive relationships among the licensees, law enforcement, industry partners and community groups. The program uses a system of accreditation, assessment and awards to establish a healthy competition between nightspots vying to excel in responsible management and safe operations.

Doucette noted, “We will continue to work with community partners . . . planning, managing and policing all hospitality zones across the entire city. Working together, we will reduce alcohol-related crime and disorder.”
