This year’s Free the Fuzz at Walmart was once again a great success, raising $41,854.86 for Special Olympics.
EPS Const. Ryan May and Alberta Sheriff Chris Zelko made their home on the roof of Wal-Mart for 54 hours from August 20 - 22.
“Even though the weather was not the best due to the smoke, it did not dampen people’s spirits at the event,” says Const. Amanda Trenchard, event organizer. “It was great to see so many uniformed members, as well as support staff this year. The time these people gave to the event really helped to make it a great success.”
The EPS cadets got involved for the first time this year and were a great addition with their youthful enthusiasm.
“Between the kids playing with the sirens and the officers dancing to the YMCA song, everyone who attended was well entertained,” says Const. Trenchard.
All money raised goes to support Special Olympians.
