EPS Leadership

The Edmonton Police Service consists of four Bureaus - each one focusing on a specific area of policing.

Community Policing Bureau – North

Community Policing Bureau – South

The two Deputy Chiefs in charge of the Community Policing Bureaus are responsible for providing policing services to maintain peace and good order, protect lives and property, and prevent and detect crimes. These services are provided through six patrol divisions and four respective districts in each division. The six patrol divisions (West, Northwest, Northeast, Downtown, Southeast and Southwest) provide primary street-level police services to the community on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis.

Intelligence and Investigations Bureau

Because intelligence-related information is central to all police work, the Intelligence and Investigations Bureau is responsible for collecting and analysing information from many sources, to effectively and efficiently guide the investigative efforts of more than 1800 police officers. The Bureau is also responsible for conducting investigations into serious or complex crimes, such as homicides, assaults, and robberies. Central to this work is the Operations and Intelligence Command Centre, a specialized hub that provides intelligence and guidance to police officers in the field on a 24/7 basis. The OICC is currently it the planning stages, and is expected to be operational in 2018.

Corporate Services Bureau

Supporting the front line and investigative policing work of the three Bureaus mentioned above is the Corporate Services Bureau, which manages the administrative and support functions of the EPS. Information Technology, Finance, Supply Services and Human Resources all provide support to sworn and civilian employee, looking after everything from payroll to police cars. The majority of EPS civilian members work in this Bureau.
