Cheryl OSBORNE https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/CherylOSBORNE On December 5, 1979, fire fighters were called to a house fire at 11335 – 127 Street. <p><span>After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of Cheryl OSBORNE and her infant son, Ian, were located in the house.&nbsp; Investigators determined the fire was deliberately set.</span></p> <p><span>Autopsy results showed that Cheryl had been stabbed to death and died prior to the fire being started.&nbsp; Ian, who was sleeping in a crib in another room at the time, died of smoke inhalation.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Ian OSBORNE https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/IanOSBORNE On December 5, 1979, fire fighters were called to a house fire at 11335 – 127 Street. <p><span>After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of the infant Ian OSBORNE and his mother, Cheryl, were located in the house.&nbsp; Investigators determined the fire was deliberately set.</span></p> <p><span>Autopsy results showed that Cheryl had been stabbed to death and died prior to the fire being started.&nbsp; Ian, who was sleeping in a crib in another room at the time, died of smoke inhalation.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Roland WAGSTAFF https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/RolandWAGSTAFF On Wednesday, October 18, 1978, a witness located the body of Roland WAGSTAFF inside a pawn shop located at 9608 111 Avenue. <p><span>Roland was an employee of the store.&nbsp; He was found with obvious trauma around his head.</span></p> <p><span>The autopsy results showed that Roland had been beaten to death.&nbsp; Investigators believed the motive to be a robbery.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Richard CHRISTENSON https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/RichardCHRISTENSON On November 16, 1977, the body of a male, later identified as Richard CHRISTENSON was found in a small copse of bush near 178 Street and 107 Avenue. <span>The manner in which Richard was killed has not been released by police to preserve the integrity of the investigation.</span> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Rita POWDER https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/RitaPOWDER On June 19, 1977, the body of a female was located on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River, east of the low level bridge. <p><span>An autopsy was conducted and her identity was found to be Rita POWDER.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>Rita was the victim of a violent sexual assault and suffered numerous stab wounds.&nbsp; She died of blunt force trauma to the head and stab wounds.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Gordon OLSEN https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/GordonOLSEN On October 03, 1976, the body of Gordon OLSEN was located on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River near 99 Street. <p><span>It was initially believed that Gordon had fallen down the embankment (approx.. 8 feet), hit his head, lost consciousness, and died from exposure.&nbsp; Further investigations were conducted and based on the totality of evidence located, Gordon&rsquo;s death was ruled a homicide.</span></p> <p><span>Gordon had previously spent 3 years in a mental hospital after he was found not criminally responsible for the stabbing death of his father in Hinton.&nbsp; Gordon stabbed his father to death while he was high on acid.&nbsp; Gordon was released from the hospital only 1 month prior to his death.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Karen EWANCIW https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/KarenEwanicw Karen was an 11 year old girl who went missing on April 23, 1975 in the river valley area near McNally High School (84 St/105 Ave). Her body was discovered on April 24th in the same area. <em>There is a reward&nbsp;of up to $40,000 for information leading to the arrest&nbsp;of&nbsp;the person(s) responsible for this homicide.</em> ]]> 08 Apr 2008 15:53:00 UT Hector DESJARLAIS https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1970/HectorDESJARLAIS On February 10, 1974, Hector DESJARLAIS was stabbed in the chest in front of the Leland Hotel, previously located near 102 Street and 104 Avenue. <p><span>He was transported to the hospital where he was declared deceased.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>An inquest into his death was called however no charges resulted from the investigations.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT
