REIGEL Melodie https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/REIGELMelodie On September 21, 1986 Melodie Riegel was found deceased inside unit #320 of the Pan American Motel, formerly located at 10630 Kingsway Ave. An autopsy determined she had died as a result of strangulation. ]]> 25 Aug 2015 14:32:00 UT Roger DESJARDINS https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/RogerDESJARDINS At approximately 3:25 a.m. on September 20, 1985, Roger DESJARDINS was found in a scrap yard at 9629 105A Avenue. <p><span style="color: #333333;">Initially, Roger was believed to have stumbled and fell there due to being intoxicated, but during the autopsy, it was concluded that he likely died from a severe beating.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="color: #333333;">No next of kin could be located for Roger and very little was known about him or his life.&nbsp; He was believed to be a cook by trade, and had been born in Montreal. &nbsp;No one claimed his body and he was buried in an unmarked grave.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT BAAS Charlotte https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/BAASCharlotte On December 18, 1983, Charlotte died from smoke inhalation. <p>The fire was&nbsp;determined an&nbsp;arson.</p> <p><em>There is a reward&nbsp;of up to $40,000 for information leading to the arrest&nbsp;of&nbsp;the person(s) responsible for this homicide.</em> </p> ]]> 15 Oct 2014 15:49:00 UT Joseph TESSIER https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/JosephTESSIER On September 22, 1983, Joseph TESSIER’S body was located in the bathtub of his residence at 9101 Strathearn Drive. <p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="color: #000000;">H</span>is 1970 Buick Riviera, which had been parked outside of his house, was later found abandoned at the Gold Bar Shopping Centre.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="color: #333333;">Autopsy results showed the 88 year old WWI veteran had drowned.&nbsp; Further investigations led Police to believe he was murdered.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT GOUDRIAAN Delaine https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/GOUDRIAANDelaine On August 16, 1983, the body of a badly decomposed female was found in a field south of Manning Freeway directly across from the Edmonton Maximum Security Prison. <p>The female was later identified as Delaine GOUDRIAAN who was last seen alive July 14, 1983.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Delaine was described as Caucasian, 160 cm in height, 50 kg weight with shoulder length brown hair.</p> ]]> 15 Sep 2016 20:35:00 UT Murray SPARROW https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/SPARROWMurray SPARROW’s body was found in the parkade at 9903 104St. He had been stabbed numerous times and died as a result. <p style="text-autospace: ; 36pt: ;">He had last been seen approximately a week and a half earlier. NOTE: SPARROW's common-law wife, Cathy GILLIGAN, was also found dead the same day as SPARROW. She was found in the residence she shared with SPARROW. Her body was badly decomposed, and a cause of death was never determined. As the cause of death in this matter is not known, the GILLIGAN death is not listed as a murder, and investigators have been unable to link the two deaths to the same occurrence.</p> ]]> 31 Oct 2016 17:04:00 UT Lorne MCKAY https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/LorneMCKAY On November 03, 1981, a witness observed 4 males drinking on a loading dock behind 10130 – 103 Street. <p><span>The witness had observed the same males drinking there on previous occasions.&nbsp; This time, one of the males, later identified as Lorne MCKAY was observed bleeding from the face.&nbsp; The witness asked a security guard to call Police.</span></p> <p><span>When Police and ambulance attendants arrived, Lorne was found unconscious, bleeding from the mouth and appeared to have a stab wound in his back.&nbsp; He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Horace COCHRANE https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/HoraceCOCHRANE On November 3, 1981, an injured male entered a business stating he had been stabbed and needed an ambulance. <p><span>When police met with the male at the hospital, he disclosed that he had been drinking with the male who stabbed him at a scrap yard at 9629 &ndash; 105A Avenue.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>Police attended the scrap yard and located the body of Horace COCHRANE with multiple stab wounds.&nbsp; It was later discovered that Horace had been drinking earlier in the day with the injured male reporter, the deceased Lorne MCKAY, and an unidentified male.&nbsp; Investigators believed that the unidentified male may be involved in the death of both Horace and Lorne.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Wasyl DEMKIW https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/WasylDEMKIW On October 25, 1981, Wasyl DEMKIW was discovered dead in his residence of 5812 – 134 Avenue. <span>Wasyl died of a single stab wound to the chest.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Francis PIERCE https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/FrancisPIERCE On October 4, 1981, the body of a male was located behind 10158 102 Street with obvious signs of head trauma. <p><span>An autopsy was conducted and Francis PIERCE&rsquo;S identity was confirmed.</span></p> <p><span>The autopsy results showed that Francis died from blunt force trauma to the head.&nbsp; Little was known of Francis, except that he was homeless and a chronic alcoholic.&nbsp; The location in which he was found was a regular site for drinking parties.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT Nancy GLADUE https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/CrimeFiles/Homicides/1980/NancyGLADUE On June 22, 1981, the body of Nancy GLADUE was located in a field in the area of 167 Avenue and 82 Street. <p><span>There was evidence of trauma on Nancy.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>The autopsy results showed evidence that Nancy&rsquo;s injuries were consistent with a homicide.</span></p> ]]> 02 Mar 2018 07:00:00 UT
