Calls for service - October 29 - November 4, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceOct29 <p class="Default"><strong><span>Impaired driving </span></strong></p> <p><span>On Oct. 30, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. police responded to a hit-and-run collision in the area of 117 Avenue and 97 Street. It was reported to police that a black Mercedes had collided with multiple vehicles and the driver then fled the scene on foot. Witnesses helped police apprehend the suspect, who officers later confirmed was impaired. One person was transported to hospital with injuries following the collisions. Charges are currently pending against the driver.</span></p> <p class="Default"><strong><span>Robbery </span></strong></p> <p><span>On Oct. 31, 2024, at 3:48 p.m. police responded to the Millwoods LRT platform for a robbery. It was reported to police that two male youths were targeting random people, assaulting them and stealing their property. One female attended hospital for injuries following an assault. Police arrived and took both males into custody without incident. The stolen personal property was found on their person and charges are pending.</span></p> <p class="Default"><strong><span>Robbery </span></strong></p> <p><span>On Nov. 4, 2024, at 6:40 p.m. police responded to a robbery at a business in the area of 132 Avenue and 132 Street. It was reported to police that a female entered the business, selected an item and then, unprovoked, produced and pointed a firearm at the front counter employee. The woman then took her item and fled the store. Officers located the woman in the area and took her into custody. Search incident to arrest, police located the stolen item and a fake handgun. Charges are pending.</span></p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span></p> 13 Nov 2024 20:19:27 UT Call for service - October 22 - October 28, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceOct28 <p>On Oct. 28, 2024, at 11:32 a.m., officers with the Healthy Streets Operations Centre (HSOC) team were approached by a man who said he was robbed by two suspects in the area of 101 Street and 103 Avenue. After a brief foot chase, both suspects were arrested. Search incident to arrest, police identified evidence of drug trafficking. Both suspects now face multiple charges.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>At 9:48 p.m. on Oct. 26, 2024, police responded to a robbery at a liquor store in the area of Calgary Trail and 34 Avenue. It was reported to police that a significant quantity of liquor was taken from the store and an employee was bear sprayed when they attempted to stop the two male suspects. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported, and police were able to arrest both suspects without incident. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>At 8:32 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2024, EPS&rsquo; Traffic Enforcement Section stopped an Audi sedan travelling 166 km/hr in a posted 100km/hr zone on Anthony Henday Drive at Baseline Road. The adult male driver was issued a mandatory court summons.</p> 04 Nov 2024 16:13:09 UT Call for service - October 15 - October 21, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceOct21 <p><strong>Personal robbery</strong></p> <p>On Oct. 15, 2024, at 5:49 p.m., police responded to a personal robbery at the Bonnie Doon LRT station. It was reported that a male suspect attacked another male waiting on the platform, assaulting him and stealing his personal items. EMS responded and treated the male on scene. Police continue to investigate. </p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span></p> <p><strong>Weapons complaint &ndash; firearm</strong></p> <p><span>At 10:12 a.m. on Oct. 19, 2024, police responded to the report of a man with a firearm in the area of 95 Street and Connors Rd.&nbsp; The man was reportedly concealing the firearm in his jacket and was observed boarding an ETS bus. EPS Tactical boarded the bus at the Capilano Transit Centre and took the suspect into custody. A firearm was located on his person. Charges are pending. </span></p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span></p> <p><strong><span>Assault/Robbery </span></strong></p> <p><span>On Oct. 19, 2024, at 6 p.m., police responded to Millwoods Town Centre for a personal robbery. It was reported to police that a group of male youths assaulted another male youth and stole his personal belongings. Police located and arrested the youths on the LRT platform. Charges are pending. </span></p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span></p> <br /> 01 Nov 2024 14:55:43 UT Call for service - October 16, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceOct16 <p><strong>Vandalism</strong></p> <p>On Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024 members of EPS&rsquo; Downtown Branch arrested at 24-year-old man in relation to over 100 incidents of graffiti vandalism that have been reported throughout Edmonton and with the assistance of the city&rsquo;s Capital City Clean Up team. The suspect is believed to be responsible for thousands of dollars of damage to public and private properties. He is facing multiple charges, including <em>mischief under 5,000</em>.&nbsp; </p> <p><strong>Impaired driving</strong></p> <p><span>On Oct. 4, 2024, at 1 a.m., police responded to an impaired driver in the area of 105 Street and 82 Avenue. It was reported to police that the vehicle was hitting cars and garbage bins. Police attempted a traffic stop; however, the vehicle briefly fled before pulling over in the area of 81 Avenue and 106 Street. Charges are pending against the adult male driver.</span></p> <p><strong>Weapons complaint</strong></p> <p><span>On Oct. 5, 2024, at 4:54 a.m., police responded to a stabbing in the area of 103 Street and 82 Avenue. It was reported to police that an injured male was walking in the area. Police located the injured male, who reported he was stabbed randomly by another unknown male. He was transported to hospital for treatment. Police continue to investigate.</span></p> <p><strong>Weapons complaint</strong></p> <p><span>On Oct. 6, 2024, at 12:09 a.m., police responded to the report of a male pointing a gun at someone in the area of 109 Street and 77 Avenue. Shortly thereafter, police were contacted by EMS regarding an adult female who had been pepper sprayed. It was reported to police that the female had observed two males with a firearm, who then confronted her at a bus stop and pepper sprayed her. Officers located the two males and took them into custody without incident. A search incident to arrest located replica pellet guns in their possession. Police continue to investigate.</span></p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span></p> 29 Oct 2024 15:53:24 UT Call for service - October 2, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceOct2 <p>On Oct. 2, 2024, at 11:20 p.m., the EPS Disruption team stopped a vehicle for speeding in the area of 109 Street and 82 Avenue. While talking to the occupants, officers noted signs of drug possession, including a used meth pipe in the back seat.<span>&nbsp; </span>The driver and passenger were placed under arrest.<span>&nbsp; </span>A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed large quantities of meth, cocaine, and GHB. The total value of drugs and cash was more than $64,000. After throwing the vehicle keys, both victims were able to successfully escape without injury while the suspect fled on foot. Approximately 30 minutes later, police determined that the same male suspect entered a parked Amazon truck while the driver was dropping off packages. &nbsp;When the delivery driver returned to his truck, he engaged in an altercation with the suspect who was trying to grab his keys. The male truck driver was able to successfully restrain the suspect until police arrived and was thankfully not injured. Police were able to arrest and identify the suspect. The suspect did not sustain any injuries and he faces charges including <em>robbery </em>and <em>assault</em>.</p> <p><strong>October 7</strong></p> <p><span>On Oct. 7, 2024 EPS Transit Community Safety Teams (TRACS) partnered with Transit Peace Officers after it was determined that a male with no proof of transit payment at the Capilano Terminal had a warrant. He was arrested and when he was searched, police located over $600 of drugs and a firearm. The male suspect faces 10 weapons and drug related charges. Thankfully, no officers or transit riders were injured.</span></p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span><strong><span> </span></strong></p> 16 Oct 2024 16:28:10 UT Call for service - September 20, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallsforServiceSept20 <p>On Sept. 20, 2024, at 2:25 a.m., police were on patrol when they were stopped by a male outside a lounge in the area of Jasper Avenue and 109 Street who reported being threatened by a male suspect with a handgun. AIR1 assisted with a vehicle stop of the suspect&rsquo;s vehicle, and all occupants of the vehicle were detained without incident. A handgun and a pellet gun were located in the vehicle. Charges are pending against four suspects.</p> <p>On Sept. 20, 2024 at 8:20 p.m., police clocked an older model Chevrolet Corvette travelling at 155 km/hr in a max 90 km/hr zone near Calgary Trail and 23 Avenue. The male driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for the offence.</p> <p>On Sept. 20, 2024, at 5:30 a.m. police responded to a break-and-enter complaint in the area of 123 Avenue and 128 Street. A male and female suspect were observed attempting, unsuccessfully, to gain entry to the garage; they fled on foot and were apprehended with the assistance of K9. The female suspect was taken to hospital for precautionary measures. Upon search of the male suspect, a handgun was located. Both suspects face multiple charges. </p> 11 Oct 2024 14:04:32 UT Call for service - September 17, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceSeptember17 <p>On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024 at 6:10 p.m., four suspects entered a liquor store in the area of 82 Avenue and 85 Street. It was reported that one suspect waved a knife at an employee, while one suspect stole several bottles of alcohol. All four suspects fled on foot together. The EPS Transit and Community Safety Teams were proactively patrolling the nearby Muttart LRT station and observed the same suspects on the platform and arrested them without incident. The stolen items were recovered and thankfully no one involved reported any injuries.<strong> </strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> 20 Sep 2024 15:23:07 UT Call for service - August 30, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceAugust30th <p style="line-height: normal;"><strong><span>SAFER PUBLIC SPACES &ndash; OFFICERS INTERVENE IN DRUG TRAFFICKING AND OPEN-AIR DRUG USE DOWNTOWN</span></strong></p> <p style="line-height: normal;"><span>On the morning of August 30, 2024, EPS officers were conducting proactive patrols near the Hope Mission at 99 Street and 106 Avenue.</span></p> <p style="line-height: normal;"><span>Officers observed several people openly injecting and smoking drugs behind a restaurant in the area.&nbsp;</span></p> <p style="line-height: normal;"><span>When they went over to investigate, they came upon a man in possession of quantities of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Tylenol-Codeine 3, and Suboxone worth over $1,600, as well as indicia of trafficking, over $300 in cash, an iPad, and a machete.&nbsp;</span></p> <p style="line-height: normal;"><span>The accused was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000, Proceeds of Crime, and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.&nbsp; The items were seized, and while the iPad was determined to be stolen, it will be returned to its owner.</span></p> <p> <span style="line-height: 115%;">The other people involved had their drugs seized and were referred to the Navigation Centre for support services.</span></p> <p><span style="line-height: 115%;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="line-height: 115%;"><img alt="" style="height:480px; width:640px;" src="-/media/86F0AB1F1A1B4E3295C50F5709E81357.ashx" /></span></p> 18 Sep 2024 05:32:54 UT Call for service - September 7, 2024 https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/CallsForService/CallForServiceSeptember7 <p>On Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at 8:15 p.m. police were conducting proactive enforcement at the Coliseum LRT station when a male suspect was observed breaking multiple bike equipment bylaws. After several demands for his ID, police advised the male that he was under arrest. The suspect resisted before he was successfully apprehended. No members were injured and the suspect refused EMS treatment. Police located a loaded rifle with a sawed-off barrel, multiple rounds of ammunition and over $1,000 of fentanyl and methamphetamine in the suspect&rsquo;s bag.
