Serious collision turns fatal

A male has succumbed to injuries sustained during a collision with an LRT train earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at approximately 8:20 a.m., a 28-year old male driving a red Hyundai Santa Fe struck the warning arm of the LRT crossing at 125 Avenue west of 66 Street, proceeding through the warning lights and onto the railway tracks. The SUV was struck by a northbound train.

EMS treated and transported the male driver to hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021.

No charges are pending at this time.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating the collision. Witnesses of the collision or anyone who may have seen the red Hyundai Santa Fe immediately prior to the collision is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
