Homicide Section investigating after assault victim dies in hospital

EPS Homicide Section is investigating after a man succumbed to injuries following an assault.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, Downtown patrol members responded to a reported assault in the area of 107 Avenue and 106 Street. Upon arrival, police discovered an unresponsive male lying in the alley. The male was treated and transported to hospital with unknown injuries. On Jun. 3, 2022, the man died in hospital.

A Tuesday, Jun. 14, 2022 autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined the man, identified as Abraham Albino, 47, was the victim of a homicide. The cause of death is being withheld at this time for investigative reasons.

Investigators are seeking witnesses to the assault that occurred on May 25, 2022, and are also looking for any information related to a vehicle of interest, an older (2000s) model brown Honda CRV with a dark-coloured front bug deflector.
