For Immediate Release: 04-Oct-2019 @ 12:42 PM
MRU #: 19RO99

A 31-year-old male is facing multiple mischief charges in connection to an extensive vandalism series, which saw 39 vehicles and apartment windows damaged throughout the neighbourhood of Bonnie Doon.

On Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, at approximately 11:35 p.m., Southeast Division patrol members were dispatched to an area near 89 Street and 83 Avenue concerning a vandalism spree. Patrol members interviewed multiple complainants who reported damage to 17 vehicles including slashed tires, smashed windshields.

Canine members were also dispatched to the area, though the Police Service Dogs (PSD) were unable to establish a track.

At approximately 1 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, Southeast Division patrol members were again dispatched to the neighbourhood of Bonnie Doon, in response to a report of male suspect waving a knife in the air outside of a Bonnie Doon establishment.

It was reported to police that the male suspect then walked to a residential neighbourhood nearby, around 81 Street and 78 Avenue, where he allegedly proceeded to smash multiple vehicle and apartment windows with a hatchet.

Police officers located the suspect in the same area of 81 Street and 78 shortly thereafter, at which time he was taken into custody.

Joshua Campbell, 31, has since been charged with 39 counts of mischief under $5,000.
