Police investigating suspicious death in downtown parkade

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the suspicious death of a male that occurred this morning.

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Downtown Branch patrol officers responded to the report of a male suspect fighting with security in a parkade in the area of 101 Street and 102 Avenue. Upon police arrival the security guard was located in medical distress. Paramedics treated and transported him to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation are combing through video surveillance from the area as the suspect is still outstanding. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
