For Immediate Release: 27-Mar-2024 @ 11:07 AM
MRU #: TR24009

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged the driver of a tractor trailer with impaired driving after he struck two vehicles, several trees, ran a red light and exceeded speed limits in a dangerous driving spree on Monday.

At 6:24 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 25, 2024, police responded to multiple reports of a red Kenworth tractor and flatbed trailer swerving erratically and travelling at approximately 150 km/h eastbound on Anthony Henday Drive. The truck subsequently entered the Walker area, struck a parked GMC Sierra, knocked over a tree, and then ran a red light at the intersection of 50 Street and 22 Avenue SW.

The truck then continued southbound along 50 Street, travelling at 100 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, driving through a ditch before turning eastbound onto 41 Avenue SW. After turning north onto 34 Street SW, the truck rear-ended a Dodge Ram with five occupants, veered off the road, struck several trees, and came to a stop in a field.
