Armed robbery suspect turns himself into police

For Immediate Release: 18-Sep-2023 @ 1:48 PM
MRU #: R23R008-1

A suspect wanted in connection to a pair of armed robberies that occurred last week is now in custody.

Gage Rader, 19, turned himself into police over the weekend, after an EPS News Release containing surveillance images and video of Rader reportedly committing an armed robbery at a convenience store on Sept. 11th were distributed to media.

Rader is facing two counts each of robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon, carry a concealed weapon and a breach of release condition (x1)
in connection to charges for another alleged commercial robbery in Boyle, AB in May.

Background:
On Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a male suspect reportedly entered a convenience store in the area of 118 Avenue and 34 Street, brandished a knife at an employee and took cash from the register.

On Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, at approximately 9:50 p.m. the same male suspect reportedly entered a convenience store in the area of 118 Avenue and 103 Street, again brandished a knife at an employee and took cash from the register.

In both incidents, the suspect was aggressive with employees and investigators are concerned this behavior could escalate to a more violent event. As such, police are reaching out to the public to assist with the identification of the suspect.
