For Immediate Release: 25-Nov-2021 @ 3:57 PM
MRU #: H21R042-1

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect in the death of a female in northeast Edmonton on Sunday evening.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, Northeast Division officers were called to the report of an injured female at a residence in the area of 139 Avenue and 35 Street. Upon arrival, officers located the female and provided first aid; however, she succumbed to injuries at the scene.

An autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office today, Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, has confirmed the 31-year-old woman’s death is a homicide. The cause of death is being withheld for investigative reasons. As the woman’s 11-year-old son was present at the time of her death, her name is being withheld to protect his privacy during this difficult time.

Homicide detectives have since identified Donny Nathan Meeches, 31, as the suspect in the woman’s death and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest. Meeches is wanted for second degree murder. Meeches and the woman were known to one another.

Meeches is considered dangerous and therefore should not be approached. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the EPS directly at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
