Autopsy results confirm 36-year-old male died from a stab wound

Autopsy results released by the Edmonton Medical Examiner earlier today confirm Curtis Michael Patko, 36, died from a stab wound with the manner of death being homicide, in connection to an altercation with another male that occurred Wednesday near 167 Avenue and 76 Street.

EPS Homicide detectives have since charged Jesse Isaiah Rachar, 23, with second degree murder.

At approximately 6:05 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019, police were called to the area of 167 Avenue and 76 Street on the report of a weapons complaint involving several males. As officers were dispatched to the area, a second call to 9-1-1 was received regarding a collision involving numerous parked vehicles approximately a block away.


When officers arrived at the scene of the collision, they located a 36-year-old male with injuries consistent with an altercation. EMS treated the male; however he succumbed to his injuries on scene. 


A few hours later, a 23-year-old male believed to have been involved in the altercation was taken into custody.
