Homicide Section investigating overnight suspicious death of young man

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the suspicious death of a 21-year-old male that occurred overnight in southwest Edmonton.

Southwest Division patrol members responded to a trouble unknown call at approximately 12:25 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in an apartment parking lot south of 122 Street and the Whitemud Freeway.


It was reported to police that the male sustained critical injuries during an altercation with a group of suspects and died on scene, despite attempts by paramedics to save his life.


Police do not believe the incident was random at this time, and continue to search for the group of suspects who fled the scene. The Edmonton Medical Examiner has yet to schedule an autopsy.
