Man dies in e-scooter collision  https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/escooterfatalityOct7 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating a collision between two vehicles and an e-scooter rider that has turned fatal. &nbsp; <p><span>At approximately 9:35 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2025, a personal electric scooter operated by a 49-year-old male was travelling northbound on 82 Street approaching 115 Avenue. While making a left turn onto 115 Avenue, the scooter moved back into the northbound lane of 82 Street and was struck by an Infiniti G37 operated by a 36-year-old male. The rider was dislodged from the scooter by the impact and was then struck by a southbound Chrysler 200 operated by a 30-year-old male.</span></p> <p><span>EMS treated and transported the scooter rider to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, on Oct. 6, 2025, he succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital. </span><span>MCIS continues to investigate.</span></p> <p><span>Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has dash camera footage of this collision to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. </span><span>Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at </span><a href="http://www.p3tips.com/250"><span>www.p3tips.com/250</span></a><span>.</span></p> 07 Oct 2025 18:08:39 UT Three arrested in unprovoked stabbing https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/Oct7Unprovokedstabbing Quick action by Edmonton Police has resulted in three arrests in an unprovoked and violent robbery in Edmonton that left two men in hospital last week. <p><span>At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2025, police responded to reports of a robbery and stabbing at a transit station in the area of 90 Avenue and 175 Street. The attack occurred when the accused approached two males waiting at the station and demanded their cell phones. When the two men refused, one of the suspects stabbed both men and robbed them of their cell phones before all three suspects, two males and one female, fled the scene on bicycles in an unknown direction. Both male victims, 24 and 45- years-old, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.</span></p> <p><span>“Thanks to the swift action of our Operations and Intelligence Command Centre (OICC), in coordination with Edmonton Transit, the Stony Plain Road BEATS team, and West Division patrol officers, all three suspects were identified within hours and in custody within 24 hours,” said Detective Aaron Sauve of the EPS. “This was an outstanding multi-branch response and a strong example of the great work our officers and partners do on the ground every day to make transit, and our city, safer.” </span></p> <p><span>On Oct. 2, 2025, all three accused were arrested along the Stony Plain Road corridor in West Division. They are well known to police.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span><b>Kalend Edwards, 31</b>, <b>Tristan Niastus, 28</b>, and <b>Jessalyn Edwards, 28</b>, have all been charged with r<em>obbery</em> and <em>aggravated assault.</em> </span></p> 07 Oct 2025 17:30:00 UT Police seeking witnesses, dash cam footage following serious collision https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/seriousinjcoll23AveOct6 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking witnesses and dash camera footage following a serious injury collision in southeast Edmonton this afternoon. <p>At approximately 3:43 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, Southeast Branch patrol officers responded to a two-vehicle roll over collision in the area of 23 Avenue and Millwoods Rd. It was reported to police that a 2011 Lincoln MKX was travelling southbound on Millwoods Rd through the intersection at 23 Avenue on a green light, when it was struck by a 2004 Dodge Caravan travelling westbound on 23 Avenue through a red light. The collision reportedly caused the Caravan to roll multiple times before coming to rest in the intersection.</p> <p>EMS responded, treated and transported the 37-year-old male driver of the Caravan and the 61-year-old male driver of the MKX to hospital with serious injuries.</p> <p><span>EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate. The male asked if he could play with the children. The 39-year-old male driver had exited the van to inspect it when a semi truck travelling eastbound struck him. The van driver died on scene. A 4-year-old girl who was inside the van was not physically injured.</span></p> <p><span>The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section investigated the collision, and on Oct. 1, 2025, charged the semi driver, <strong>Bhupinder Singh, 38,</strong> with <em>dangerous driving causing death</em>.</span></p> 03 Oct 2025 21:00:00 UT Police investigating fatal pedestrian collision https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/fatal23pedcollOct3 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a pedestrian fatality that took place earlier today in the Stillwater neighbourhood.&nbsp; <p><span>On Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at approximately 6:27 a.m., West Branch patrol officers were called to the report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a truck in the area of Stillwater Blvd and 23 Avenue. It was reported to police that a man was crossing 23 Avenue at the intersection, when he was struck by a 2007 Dodge Dakota travelling eastbound on 23 Avenue.</span></p> <p><span>A bystander attempted to provide medical aid to the pedestrian; however, EMS responded and confirmed the 73-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on scene. The 48-year-old female driver of the truck remained on scene and did not report any injuries,</span></p> <p><span>EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate. Lighting conditions are considered a factor in this collision; however, speed and alcohol are not.</span></p> <p><span>This is Edmonton&rsquo;s 26<sup>th</sup> traffic fatality of 2025.</span></p> 03 Oct 2025 18:20:00 UT "Project Gaslight" shooter who fled to India arrested https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/projectgaslightarrestOct2 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has arrested a male accused of three shootings in connection with the extortion series known as Project Gaslight. <p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;"><span>On Sept. 20, 2025, <strong>Arjun Sahnan, 21,</strong> was arrested and charged with <em>discharging a firearm recklessly </em>(x2) and <em>possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition</em> (x3) in relation to three shootings that took place in late 2023 in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Sherwood Park. </span></p> <p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;"><span>Immediately after the shootings, Sahnan fled to India. In April 2024, Canada-wide warrants were issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody at the Edmonton airport upon his return to Canada.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Background on Shootings</span></strong></p> <p><span>On Dec. 21, 2023, at 2:50 a.m. in the Cy Becker neighbourhood in Edmonton, shots were fired at an upstairs bedroom window where the homeowners were sleeping. Four other occupants, two of them children, were also asleep in the home at the time of the shooting. </span></p> <p></p> <p><span>Days later, on Dec. 24, 2023, at 8:45 p.m., shots were fired at a home in northwest Winnipeg that was occupied by several family members. One bullet traveled through a bedroom, barely missing the occupant inside, and passed through a connecting wall into an adjacent occupied room. The shooting was captured on security cameras in the area.</span></p> <p><span>In both the Edmonton and Winnipeg shootings, the homeowner was extorted for money and threatened prior to the shooting. No one was injured in either shooting.</span></p> <p><span>On Dec. 29, 2023, at 1:08 a.m., shots were fired at an unoccupied home in the Fountain Creek neighborhood of Sherwood Park. One bullet traveled through a window into a children’s playroom and struck a toybox inside. No one was injured, and the suspect vehicle was captured on security cameras in the area. Police conducted a search warrant at this residence in September.</span></p> <p><span>Investigators believe that the suspect or suspects involved in Samuel&rsquo;s disappearance may have disposed of his body no more than 150 km from Edmonton, and that this occurred within a short time of his disappearance on June 1, 2025.</span></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><span><img alt="" style="width:600px; height:388px;" src="-/media/EEF8AC29C79C4DDC9B01B189062AC097.ashx?h=388&amp;w=600" /></span></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span>Map of possible area where remains may be concealed</span></strong></p> <p><span>&ldquo;We believe Samuel&rsquo;s body was disposed of on land, and that steps were taken to conceal the body to avoid detection,&rdquo; says primary investigator Det. Police continue to investigte.</b><br><br>Just after 6 a.m. this morning, Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, police were called to a suspicious fire at a residence in the area of 150 Street and 106 Avenue. The residence is the same location where police conducted a search warrant in relation to the Samuel Bird investigation earlier this month. At this time, it is not known whether the fire is connected to the Samuel Bird investigation; however, given the circumstances, it is being treated as suspicious.</span></p> <p><span>Police are releasing the image below of a vehicle of interest in the suspicious fire.
