Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male in what appeared to be suspicious circumstances. </span></p> <p><span>EPS Homicide Section is now investigating. The male had suffered obvious injuries, and Homicide Section took over the investigation.</span></p> <p><span>An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025 with the Edmonton Medical Examiner&rsquo;s Office.</span></p> <p><span>Investigators are seeking surveillance video and witnesses in this incident. It was reported that the previous guests had stolen approximately $35,000 of household items and brand name lingerie, then proceeded to try to sell the lingerie out of the back of a silver Mazda CX9 to workers at local massage parlours.</span></p> <p><span>The guest who reserved the booking was found to have used fraudulent identification in her Airbnb profile, and as such, investigators are looking to identify her and her accomplice. One of the suspects is described as being tall with red hair or a red wig, and the other is described as having dark hair and a tattoo under her left eye.</span></p> <p><span>Police are looking for any information on the two suspects, particularly from workers at massage parlours who may have come into contact with them as they attempted to sell the lingerie. Investigators recognize that witnesses may be reluctant to talk to police and are assuring them they can report anonymously.</span></p> <p><span>“We are trying to identify these suspects to prevent future occurrences,” says Cst. Officers determined a 78-year-old male motorist was travelling eastbound on 106 Avenue. It was reported that the driver lost control of his 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan, swerved across westbound lanes of the avenue and went over a curb before colliding with a traffic light just before 75 Street. </span></p> <p>Witnesses attempted to provide first-aid to the male driver before EMS responded and transported him to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was later declared deceased. At the time of the collision, the driver of the Volkswagen is believed to have experienced a medical episode. No other injuries have been reported to police.</p> <p><span>&nbsp;</span>EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate.</p> 18 Nov 2025 20:56:00 UT Police looking to identify vehicle involved in pedestrian hit and run https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/HitandRunNov182025 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian from late last month. <p><span>It was reported to police that on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, a 32-year-old male was walking across McConachie Boulevard and 62 Street when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle briefly stopped to speak to the injured male before leaving the scene.</span></p> <p><span>The pedestrian was later taken to hospital with serious injuries and has since been released. </span></p> <p><span>The EPS Major Collisions Investigations Section (MCIS) has taken over the investigation and are asking for any witnesses to come forward. </span></p> <p><span>Police believe the collision occurred sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the night of Thursday, Oct. 30. Her dog ran away following the collision but was later found and returned home, unharmed, by City of Edmonton Animal Control. The 36-year-old female driver of the Rogue remained on scene and was not injured.</span></p> <p><span>Sadly, the female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries in hospital late yesterday evening.</span></p> <p><span>“Unfortunately, this marks Edmonton’s 30<sup>th</sup> traffic fatality of the year,” says</span><span>&nbsp;Staff Sergeant Mike Wasylyshen of the EPS Traffic Services Branch. </span><span>“Road safety impacts us all and fatalities in particular have long lasting and far-reaching effects on everyone involved. Surveillance footage from approximately 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2024 shows the female walking alone northbound up the alley from 99 Avenue between 103 Street and Bellamy Hill, then getting into the bin. Her death is not deemed to be suspicious.</span></p> <p><span>She is described as a 25 to 35-year-old Indigenous female with shoulder-length brown and red hair and brown eyes, approximately 5’6” tall with a slim build. Police were unable to confirm her identity using traditional methods. </span></p> <p><span>On Mar. 27, 2025, the EPS’ Missing Persons Unit released sketches of the woman and her tattoo, as well as stock images of her jacket and boots. Upon arrival, they located an injured 42-year-old male outside of a residence and immediately administered life-saving measures. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased on scene.</span></p> <p><span>The Edmonton Medical Examiner&rsquo;s Office completed an autopsy on Oct. 9, 2025, and determined that Andrew Donald McCabe, 42, died of a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide. </span></p> <p><span>On Oct. 18, 2025, police charged <strong>Gulied Ahmed Umar, 20,</strong> with <em>second degree murder</em>. </span></p> 13 Nov 2025 19:19:00 UT
