Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at </span><a href="http://www.p3tips.com/250"><span>www.p3tips.com/250</span></a><span>.</span></p> 16 Jan 2026 23:16:13 UT Third suspect arrested in set of December carjackings https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/DeccarjackingsuspectarrestedJan132025 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has arrested a third 18-year-old male in a set of December carjackings. <p><span>On Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. police responded to the area of 51 Avenue and 201 Street for an attempted carjacking. It was reported to police that a 49-year-old male was in front of his residence when he was approached by two young male suspects. One of the suspects produced a firearm and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The male complied and the suspects fled in the vehicle but due to icy road conditions, quickly abandoned the car.</span></p> <p><span>Later that same evening, around 11:30 p.m., police responded to another attempted carjacking, this time in the area of 57 Avenue and 174 Street. It was reported to police that two male suspects, while driving a stolen vehicle, purposely caused a minor collision with another driver. When the adult female driver exited her vehicle to exchange information, the suspects attempted to steal her vehicle but fled after a brief physical altercation.</span></p> <p><span>The EPS Robbery Section took over the investigation and were able to connect the two events.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Jashi Williams, 18, </span></strong><span>was arrested on January 12, 2026, and charged with two counts of <em>theft of motor vehicle</em>, <em>possession of a weapon</em>, and firearm-related offences. His next court appearance is set for Jan. 28, 2026.</span></p> <p><span>Previously, on Dec. 23, 2025, <strong>Dominic Stadsnes, 18</strong>, was arrested and charged with <em>theft of motor vehicle</em> and firearm-related offences. His next court appearance is set for Jan. 14, 2026.</span></p> 13 Jan 2026 20:04:06 UT Charges laid in November 2025 fatal pedestrian collision https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/ChargesLaidJan12 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has laid charges in relation to a fatal pedestrian collision that took place in northeast Edmonton last November. <p><span>On Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at approximately 8:57 a.m., a 2024 Nissan Rogue was travelling southbound on 82 Street and making a left-hand turn onto 153 Avenue, when it struck a female pedestrian who was crossing 153 Avenue northbound in a marked crosswalk while walking her dog.</span></p> <p><span>EMS responded, treated and transported the 58-year-old female pedestrian to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Her dog ran away following the collision but was later found and returned home, unharmed, by City of Edmonton Animal Control. The 36-year-old female driver of the Rogue remained on scene and was not injured.</span></p> <p><span>Sadly, the female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries in hospital.</span></p> <p><span>On Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, police charged the driver of the Nissan Rogue, <strong>Kathy Halvorsen, 36,</strong> with <em>failure to yield to a pedestrian</em> under Alberta&rsquo;s <em>Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation</em> as well as <em>careless driving</em> under the province&rsquo;s <em>Traffic Safety Act</em>. </span></p> 12 Jan 2026 22:01:00 UT Police lay charge following online threats https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/utterthreatsJan12 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 31-year-old Edmonton man following threats posted online against the Jewish community. <p><span>On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, the Niagara Regional Police Service contacted the EPS regarding concerning social media posts that threatened harm against the Jewish community. The posts appeared to have originated from Edmonton and investigators quickly identified the suspect, issued warrants for his arrest and attempted to locate him.</span></p> <p><span>On Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, officers located and arrested <strong>Amjad Jaradat</strong><strong>, 31,</strong> who has since been charged with <em>uttering threats</em>. <strong>Jaradat</strong> remained in custody following his arrest and will now be residing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with several conditions, including:</span></p> <ul style="list-style-type: disc;"> <li><span>Shall not attend within 100 meters of: </span> <ul style="list-style-type: circle;"> <li><span>any Jewish place of worship, community centre, or known community event. </span></li> <li><span>any vigil, protest, or demonstration organized by either side of the Israel/Palestine conflict.</span></li> </ul> </li> <li><span>Shall remain in your residence 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week for the entirety of the order, with the exception of:</span> <ul style="list-style-type: circle;"> <li><span>Employment that is pre-approved by your supervisor</span></li> <li><span>medical or dental emergencies for yourself or a dependent, provided you return as soon as possible and inform your supervisor. </span></li> </ul> </li> <li><span>Will not be in the possession of any electronic devices that can connect to the internet, with the exception of use for employment purposes as approved by your supervisor.</span></li> <li><span>Will not make any social media posts or comment on other people’s social media posts.</span></li> <li><span>Shall not possess any weapons as defined by the <em>Criminal Code,</em> including knives or other edged items (except when it is actively being used for eating a meal), anything used, designed to be used or intended for use in causing death or injury to any person or for the purpose of threatening and intimidating any person.</span></li> <li><span>Shall not possess any firearm, firearms licence, authorization or registration certificate related to the possession of firearms, crossbow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, ammunition, prohibited ammunition, or explosive substance, as defined in the <em>Criminal Code.</em></span></li> </ul> <p><span>&nbsp;<br>​</span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: 1rem;">The EPS Hate Crimes Unit is also recommending that Section 718.2 of the </span><em style="font-family: inherit; font-size: 1rem;">Criminal Code&nbsp;of Canada</em><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: 1rem;">&nbsp;be applied in this case, allowing the courts to consider increased sentencing&nbsp;when there is evidence the offence may have been motivated by hatred.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>“Following recent events in Australia, as well as ongoing conflicts taking place in various countries across the globe, we want to assure our local faith communities that, regardless of denomination, your safety is our priority,” says EPS Chief Warren Driechel. “This investigation is an example of how police across Canada continuously work together to combat hatred and violence.</span></p> <p><span>“Whether online or in person, hate has no place in our society, and we will continue to investigate these incidents to the fullest extent.”</span></p> <p><span>-------------- </span></p> <p><span>The EPS takes hate-motivated incidents and crimes very seriously. Investigators believe the man altered the cheques, deposited them into a bank account created with fake ID and then used some of the money, along with another fake ID, to purchase a large ticket item from an additional business. The 16-year-old male driver of the Escalade was also transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.</span></p> <p><span style="color: #333333;">EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) has since charged the 16-year-old male driver with </span><em><span style="color: #333333;">dangerous operation causing death</span></em><span style="color: #333333;"> under the <em>Criminal Code of Canada</em> and <em>drive uninsured motor vehicle on a highway, operate unregistered motor vehicle, and fail to hold a valid operator’s license</em> under the <em>Traffic Safety Act</em>. The driver was served an <em>Appearance Notice.</em></span></p> <p><span style="color: #333333;">Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.</span></p> <p></p> 05 Jan 2026 21:00:00 UT Police seek public's assistance locating inmate at large https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/unlawfullyatlargeCraneJan01 The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a male inmate who allegedly escaped from the custody of the Stan Daniels Healing Centre on New Year’s Day. <p><span>At approximately 1:47 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, Correctional Services Canada (CSC) reported that&nbsp;<strong>Shelby Crane, 33,</strong> escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre when <strong>Crane</strong> was unaccounted for during a count by staff members.<strong></strong></span></p> <p><strong><span>Crane</span></strong><span>&nbsp;is currently serving a 10-year six-month sentence for <em>manslaughter &ndash; use firearm, possession of weapon for dangerous purposes, </em>and<em> obstruct public/peace officer</em>. A Canada Wide Warrant for being&nbsp;<em>unlawfully at large</em>&nbsp;has since been issued for his arrest.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><strong><span>Crane</span></strong><span>&nbsp;is described as 6&rsquo;2&rdquo; tall and weighs approximately 214 lbs.
