He was subsequently arrested and convicted in 2020, receiving a two‑year custodial sentence. In each case, a suspect posing as a buyer meets up with the seller, evaluates the item(s) for sale and then robs the seller of the item, often using bear spray, uttering threats or presenting a firearm. Sometimes, the robbery involves more than one suspect. Additionally, the suspects have been known to sell fake iPhones to unsuspecting buyers and/or use counterfeit money.

Thanks to ongoing efforts by EPS Patrol and Investigative Response Teams (IRT), three adults were arrested late last month and charged with a combined total of 30 offences in relation to eight separate incidents:

Cody Bear, 18, is facing 23 charges, including robbery (x5), attempted robbery (x2) and possession of a weapon (x5).

Delvoi Sadiki, 19, is facing six charges including robbery (x2), assault with a weapon (x2) and disguise with intent (x2)

Arianna Mejia, 19, is charged with one count of robbery.

Since mid-December, police have received 53 reports of these incidents. Thankfully, nobody was injured and the male was arrested.

Shortly after the arrest, EPS officers determined that the 33-year-old male was involved in a robbery of a central Edmonton liquor store in the area of 113 Street and Jasper Avenue approximately 30 minutes before the incident at Corona Station.

Morgan Banman, 33, is facing charges for attempted murder (x2), assaulting a peace officer with a weapon (x3), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and robbery.

“While we are grateful that no officers or members of the public were injured, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers all levels of law enforcement face on a daily basis,” says Inspector Jon Morrison with the EPS’ Investigative Response Team. “This is also an example of how crime and disorder continue to impact all corners of our city; from the business that was robbed, to the LRT patrons who may have felt unsafe during their commutes, to the officers on proactive duty who were attacked with a weapon.
