30 km/h School Zones

School zone 30 km/h speed limits are in effect between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. where school zone signs are posted. School zone speed limits are only in effect when schools are operational (not in effect during evenings, weekends, or holidays). If you are unsure if a school zone in your area is in effect during a holiday, call 311.

Even when school zones are not in effect, it is wise to drive with extra caution in school zone areas, as children may still be in the area.

The Be a Textbook Driver campaign reminds motorists to slow down and be mindful of the 30 km/h speed limit in school zones located on the perimeters around select elementary and junior high schools across Edmonton.
