Neighbourhood Crime Mapping

The Edmonton Police Service has developed a crime mapping application for the public to view crime in neighbourhoods across the city.

Neighbourhood crime is more than just numbers; it’s about knowing where crime is happening in the area you live. Knowing the real picture of neighbourhood crime is the first step in doing something about it.

By accessing this timely information on reported crime, you will be able to know what is happening in your neighbourhood. By knowing what is going on, we can work together to reduce and prevent crime.

Making a difference

We need to act on this knowledge and create solutions. We begin to make a difference by knowing what’s really going on in our neighbourhoods. This new crime mapping tool is a step in that direction.

How to use the tool

You can select a neighbourhood of interest by clicking on the city map and selecting a date range. Once the criteria is set, click “Show Crimes” to refresh the map.

You can then select one, some, or all of the eight crime indicators to plot on the map. The eight crime indicators are what the Edmonton Police Service uses to measure crime in our city.

For more information, visit Help with Crime Mapping.

To protect the privacy of the citizens involved, including the victims of crime, the locations shown on the map are near, but are not the exact locations that were reported to the police.

We’d like your feedback. Let us know if this new tool is helpful. If you have questions, please e-mail our Crime Statistics Coordinator. This e-mail account will be monitored Monday to Friday during business hours.
