Proposed EPS 2027–2030 Budget: Investing in a Safer Edmonton

“This all comes down to keeping Edmontonians safe at a time when demands on the service are growing. Parents want their kids to be able to play in their communities, students don’t want to have to deal with open air drug use every day on their commute, and business owners shouldn’t have to report theft after theft as they try to make a living. We are seeing effective results in our approach to crime management, so this budget focuses resources where they will continue to have the greatest impact on community safety, service delivery, and public trust.”

— Chief Warren Driechel, Edmonton Police Service

Edmonton is growing toward two million people, and demand for police services is growing with it.

The Edmonton Police Commission has submitted the proposed EPS 2027–2030 operating and capital budget to City Council, with the goal of making the city safer for everyone.

The budget focuses on maintaining public safety and keeping up with rising demand. It also invests in facilities, technology and equipment a growing city needs. It's built on the priorities Edmontonians named during public engagement and supports EPS's goal of focused policing and safer communities.

Edmontonians are invited to coffee and a discussion with EPS executive leaders about the financial environment, current budget pressures and the budget's priorities.
