The Edmonton Police Service has been named one of the best places to work in Alberta for four consecutive years.
EPS was recognized for continuing essential services to the public while protecting employees during the COVID-19 pandemic and for its ongoing commitment to employee wellness.
“This is a special honour for a police organization, but it’s much more meaningful that we have been recognized for our efforts to support employees through the pandemic,” says Darren Eastcott, Executive Director of EPS Human Resources.
When the pandemic hit, EPS put special emphasis on enhanced mental health support for employees along with the numerous health and safety precautions put in place – which helped to reduce levels of stress, increase resiliency, and provide a whole other level of protection needed to survive.
“Our focus is to ensure we have healthy employees so at the end of the day they can go home and look after their families,” adds Darren Eastcott. “Because on top of their work, they’re dealing with all the issues the rest of us are, including COVID-19.”
This ongoing focus on employees has helped EPS continue to be a leader in policing and to serve the citizens of Edmonton regardless of the circumstances.
