Celebrating the 2018 Top Cop

10-Apr-2019

On Friday, April 5th, 2019, the Kiwanis Club of Edmonton - Oil Capital honoured Staff Sergeant Duane Hunter with the title of “Top Cop” and presented him with the award at police headquarters.

S/Sgt. Hunter was chosen for his dedication to the Crestwood Community. He volunteered his off-duty time to develop the Candy Cane Lane event to better serve his neighbours, especially those who found it difficult to purchase or install lights to carry out the tradition of their street.

Duane’s nominator, Sergeant Kim Lafreniere spoke to the inspiration that led him to nominate Duane for this award. The Crestwood Community League President, Diana Steele also presented to the audience on how Duane has positively impacted his community and the community league.

Kiwanis donates $1000 to a charity of the winner’s choice. Duane has selected the Crestwood Community League so the money can aide this year’s Candy Cane Lane event.

Congratulations, Duane. We’d also like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Kiwanis Club for their continual support for our members.
