Police investigating homicide in northeast Edmonton

A man has died days after he was found unconscious in northeast Edmonton.

On Friday, May 16, at approximately 12:45 a.m., police responded to the report of an unconscious male found in the area of 118 Avenue and 87 Street. EMS treated and transported the male to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, he died in hospital.

An autopsy performed on Thursday, May 22, 2025, identified that Evander Saddleback, 30, died of a blunt head injury. The manner of death was confirmed to be homicide, and Homicide Section took over the investigation.

Anyone with camera footage of the area around 87 Street and 118 Avenue between 9 p.m. on May 15 and 1 a.m. on May 16, or anyone with any other information about this assault is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
