2021 New Year's Eve homicide investigation concluded

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has concluded an investigation into the homicide of a 31-year-old Edmonton man that took place on New Year’s Eve in 2021.

At approximately 3:35 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2021, police responded to a trouble unknown call at a residence near 120 Avenue and 93 Street in northwest Edmonton.

Upon arrival, EPS members discovered Sheldon Johnson, 31,
deceased inside the residence.

An autopsy conducted by the Edmonton Medical Examiner confirmed that Johnson died of a single gunshot wound and the manner of death was homicide.

EPS Homicide Section has since confirmed that the 33-year-old male responsible for Johnson’s death died in an officer-involved shooting following a criminal flight from police later that same day. As such, no charges will be laid, and the investigation is concluded.
