Autopsy complete; police investigating central Edmonton homicide

Police are investigating the death of a 42-year-old man that took place in central Edmonton yesterday evening.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Downtown Division patrol officers responded to reports of gun shots in the area of 107 Avenue and 109 Street. Upon arrival, they located an injured 42-year-old male outside of a residence and immediately administered life-saving measures. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased on scene.

Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation. The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy today, Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, and determined that Andrew Donald McCabe, 42, died of a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide. No charges have been laid at this time.
