Additional investigation needed in central Edmonton suspicious death

Further investigation is underway following the death of a 37-year-old woman last week.

On Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, just past 1 p.m., Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Downtown Division patrol officers were conducting an investigation in the area of 100 Avenue and 111 Street when they learned a 37-year-old woman had been taken to hospital with injuries believed to be suspicious. She died shortly after arriving at hospital. A 39-year-old man known to the woman was taken into custody at the time.

Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation. An autopsy was completed on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025; however, the results are pending further investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.
