Police seeking tips in south Edmonton suspicious death

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking tips in a relation to the suspicious death of a senior in south Edmonton over the weekend. 

On Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at approximately 8:25 a.m., EPS Southwest Branch officers and EMS responded to the area of 104 Street and 85 Avenue for reports of a male in medical distress in the backyard of a residence.

EMS treated and transported the 82-year-old man to hospital; however, he has since succumbed to his injuries.

On Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on the man; however, the cause and manner of death are pending further testing and examination.

EPS Homicide Section continues to investigate his death, and detectives believe the man was last seen walking in the alley west of 104 Street between 85 Avenue and 86 Avenue at approximately 6:10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to please contact police. A highlighted map of the area is included below.
