MRU #: TR25028

Police are investigating after a male was struck by a vehicle in central Edmonton on Saturday evening.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m. a Toyota Echo was travelling eastbound on 97 Avenue at 101 Street when it reportedly experienced a mechanical failure. As a result, it was stopped between two lanes at this intersection, just east of 101 Street. It was then reported that a Honda CR-V pulled behind the stopped Toyota. Following this, a Kia Seltos SUV parked behind the Honda and activated its hazard lights. As the 42-year old male driver of the Kia Seltos exited his vehicle and walked in front of it, a Dodge Ram truck struck the Kia, throwing the 42-year old male on to the roadway.

The 42-year-old male driver of the Kia Seltos was taken to hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

The EPS’ Major Collisions Investigation Section (MCIS) continues to investigate.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has dash camera footage of this collision is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
