MRU #: H20R035-02

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Homicide Section has laid charges in relation to a homicide that occurred on Dec. 8, 2020.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2020, Downtown Division officers responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 109 Street and 109 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an injured male. EMS responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced deceased.

On Dec. 9, 2020, an autopsy determined that Mahad Bashir Farah, 25, died as a result of a gunshot wound, and his death was confirmed as a homicide.

On May 8, 2025, following a lengthy and complex investigation, Homicide detectives have issued warrants for first degree murder for Amiir Hussen, 27 and Saed Osman, 30. Hussen is currently in custody for unrelated charges. Osman remains outstanding and is wanted on Canada wide warrants for a 2022 homicide.

“We know no amount of time can ease the pain of losing a loved one,” says Staff Sergeant Colin Leathem of the EPS Homicide Section. “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends. We hope that these charges offer some measure of accountability and resolution.”
