MRU #: 25R050

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS), Camrose Police Service and Lakeshore Regional Police Service proudly announce the graduation of 46 officers, marking the successful completion of an intensive training program and the beginning of their careers in law enforcement.

The recruit officers will formally graduate as part of Recruit Training Class (RTC) 162 at City Hall at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, with family, friends, colleagues and community representatives in attendance to celebrate the achievements of the newest members of the police service. The class of 46 includes 42 Edmonton officers, three Camrose officers and one Lakeshore officer.

The officers of RTC 162 come from all walks of life, beginning their careers in other fields before making the transition into law enforcement. Their backgrounds vary and include other areas within law, the military, trades, and diverse experiences in the corporate world.  There are officers from as far as Ukraine, Moldova, Philippines, Uganda, Nigeria, Russia, India, USA, UK and Australia. EPS is also proud that this class includes seven women, in addition to the Recruit Training Staff Sergeant Susan Tames, a Class Coordinator and the Valedictorian who are all women as well.

“These recruits have demonstrated exceptional commitment, resilience and integrity throughout their training,” says Staff Sergeant Susan Tames, EPS Recruit Training Section. “They are ready to serve our community with professionalism and compassion, and we are proud to welcome them to the front lines of public safety.”

During the course of training, the recruits of RTC 162 built positive interactions with the community, completing over 700 volunteer hours of their own time as part of their training. Those hours were spent supporting various EPS and Edmonton Police Foundation events including the McCauley Cup, Chiefs Pride Breakfast, First Responders Half Marathon, Sirens for Life, Santa’s Anonymous, Polar Plunge and Youth Cadets.

Among the graduating class were several award recipients recognized for their excellence in fitness, tactics, academics, humanitarian efforts and leadership.

With RTC 162’s academy training complete, the new constables move into field development under the Community Policing Bureau. Afterwards, they will return for assessment and training to help maximize their potential.

For the fifth time, The Edmonton Police Service has been named one of Alberta’s Top Employers.
