High school teacher charged with sexual assault

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 32-year-old high school teacher with sexual assault.

On Feb. 8, 2025, it was reported to police that a female youth had been sexually assaulted by a 32-year-old male on a number of occasions between February 2024 and January 2025. While the male was reportedly teaching high school classes at the time of these assaults, the female who came forward to police was not a student at this school.

On Mar. 6, 2025, Dylan James Shott, 32, was arrested and charged with luring of a child, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference.

Shott was released with conditions, including not to have contact or communication with anyone under 16 years of age, not to attend any public swimming area, school, daycare, playground, youth shelter or public library and to not access any dating sites on the internet.
