Police investigating suspicious death in connection to residential fire

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a suspicious death after a residential fire in north central Edmonton.

On Sunday, June 1, at approximately 2:47 a.m., police were contacted by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) after firefighters responded to a residential fire in the area of 120 Avenue and 77 Street and located a deceased male inside.

Northwest Branch officers responded and determined the death to be suspicious. The investigation has since been turned over to the EPS Homicide section. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Jun. 3, 2025.

Anyone with information about this suspicious death, or anyone with security or dash camera footage of the area around 77 Street and 120 Avenue at approximately 1:30 to 2 a.m. on June 1, is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
