Police seeking public’s assistance with suspicious fire investigation

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public’s assistance with a suspicious fire that occurred this morning.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., police observed smoke in the area of 122 Avenue and 128 Street. Upon arrival at the scene, the source of the fire was determined to be located at a playground adjacent to St. Pius X Catholic Elementary School.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) was able to extinguish the fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the school was not affected.

The EPS continues to investigate and have closed off access to the playground.

Anyone with information about this suspicious fire is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Additionally, anyone with dash camera or security camera footage in the area of 122 Avenue and 128 Street between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, are asked to contact EPS.
