Police investigating suspicious death in northwest Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a death that took place in northwest Edmonton earlier this week.

On Monday, June 9, 2025, at approximately 3:02 p.m., the EPS responded to a call to assist EMS with an injured 28-year-old male at a residence in the area of 89 Street and 149A Avenue. Upon arrival, police and EMS administered life-saving measures to the injured male; however, he was pronounced deceased on scene.

After an initial investigation, police believe that the male was reportedly assaulted earlier in the day before he succumbed to his injuries. As such, the investigation has since been turned over to the EPS Homicide Section.

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on the 28-year-old man and the cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further testing.
