On Sunday, Mar. 17, 2024, at approximately 6:30 a.m., an unidentified male suspect arrived in the area of 91 Street and 71 Avenue in a stolen 2003 Ford F-350. The suspect reportedly got out of the vehicle and stole a second vehicle, a 2003 Ford F-350.
For the next several hours, the suspect proceeded through south Edmonton, Beaver County and Strathcona County and reportedly stole four other older Ford trucks of varying models. The suspect would arrive in a stolen Ford and would then steal another unoccupied Ford truck on scene. During one of the thefts, the unknown suspect confronted a citizen with a knife, though thankfully no injuries were reported.
The following day, on Monday, Mar. 18, 2024, at approximately 6:54 a.m., police received an additional report of a stolen 2001 Ford F-350 in the area of 90 Avenue and 46 Street. After further investigation, it was determined that the same male suspect arrived at the location in a 2000 Ford F-250 he had stolen the day before and left it on scene to steal a 2001 Ford F-350.
Investigators later located the 2001 Ford F-350 in the area of 85 Street and 80 Avenue unoccupied. Police believe the vehicle was left there between Monday, Mar. 18 and Tuesday, Mar. 19, 2024.
“The motivation behind these Ford truck thefts is unknown,” says EPS Const. Whitney Stevens of Southeast Branch. “We are hopeful that someone out there recognizes the suspect in our composite sketch.”
