On Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at 4:15 a.m. Downtown Branch Patrol officers responded to the report of an assault at an apartment complex in the area of 100 Avenue and 102 Street. It was reported to police that an injured male was located in the common area of the building where he had been attacked by a group of people.
EMS responded, treated and transported the 32-year-old male to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries where he remains.
Detectives with the EPS Investigative Response Team (IRT) have since determined the assault followed a swarming by a group of individuals attending an after-hours event in the common events room of the building. In total, seven individuals, who were unknown to the victim, were involved and have since been identified, located, arrested and charged.
Charges facing those involved include:
- Two 17-year-old males have each been charged with attempted murder. One of the males is also facing additional charges, including possession of a firearm and improper storage of a firearm.
- Cody Trott, 18, Isaiah Saddleback, 21, and a 16-year-old male have each been charged with aggravated assault.
- Another 17-year-old male was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm and improper storage of firearm for assaulting a bystander who was attempting to stop the attack.
- Aleshia Gladue, 20, was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, obstruct justice and criminal harassment for threatening witnesses.
“The excessive violence in this incident is shocking and unacceptable,” says Det. Roy Paulino with IRT. “Sadly, the 32-year-old male is unlikely to recover from his injuries and he and his family will be managing the life-long impacts of this attack.”
