Autopsy complete in homicide; Police seek witnesses

An autopsy has been completed in the death of a 29-year-old male who died as a result of a gunshot wound. 

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Khalid Abdirizak, 29, was dropped off at the Royal Alexandra Hospital with injuries consistent with a shooting. The male was treated by medical staff, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

An autopsy was completed on Friday, July 19, 2024 and the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that the cause was a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide. Investigators have determined that the shooting took place at an underground and unlicensed nightclub that was operating under the name “One Love Club” or “Vibe Place Nightclub” located at 10657 116 Street.

“At this stage of the investigation, we are looking to speak to anyone who was present at this nightclub  during the early hours of Thursday, July 18,” says EPS Homicide Staff Sgt. Rob Bilawey. “Anybody with knowledge about what led up to this incident is asked to contact police immediately.”
