MRU #: H25R002-1

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 36-year-old Edmonton man in relation to a homicide that took place at a residence in the Strathearn neighbourhood earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m. Southeast Branch Patrol responded to the report of a possible deceased female and a male with a weapon at a residence in the area of 95 Avenue and 91 Street. Officers subsequently contained the residence.

The 36-year-old male suspect fled the area prior to police arrival; however, he was arrested a short time later. A deceased 30-year-old female was then located inside the residence.

A 62-year-old male who was present at the residence when police were called was also assaulted by the suspect. He did not report any injuries.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy and determined that Erin Kern, 30, died as a result of multiple stab wounds and the manner of death is homicide.

Homicide detectives have since charged Drew Moore, 36, with second degree murder in relation to Kern’s death and attempted murder in relation to the assault on the 62-year-old male. Moore has also been charged with several breaches, including breaching a release order and breaching a probation order.

Moore and Kern are known to one another, and Kern’s death is considered an intimate partner homicide.
