Police seeking tips following carjacking and hit-and-run collision

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking tips from the public regarding an SUV involved in a carjacking and hit-and-run collision in central Edmonton this morning. 

At approximately 11:35 a.m. this morning, Saturday, April 20, 2024, Downtown Branch patrol officers responded to a hit-and-run collision in in the area of 118 Street and Jasper Avenue. It was reported to police that an unknown person carjacked a white SUV, described as a Jeep Cherokee, from an adult male in the parking lot of a restaurant. The man, who is also the owner of the vehicle, was then dragged and run over by the SUV before it fled through a nearby alleyway and travelled eastbound on Jasper Avenue.

EMS responded, treated and transported the 26-year-old male to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries where he remains.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate. At this time, officers believe the incident was isolated and all parties may be known to one another.  The exact make, model and license plate of the vehicle remains under investigation.
