On Sunday, June 1, 2025, at approximately 6:27 p.m., Downtown Division officers were flagged down by a complainant who had just been carjacked in the area of 102 Avenue and 96 Street. It was reported that an unknown male jumped into the bed of the truck the complainant had been driving, and when the complainant exited to confront the suspect, the suspect attacked him, got into the driver’s seat and drove away. The complainant was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assault.
The suspect in the carjacked truck then reportedly caused multiple collisions as he continued driving, resulting in several calls to police. Fortunately, no one else was seriously injured.
Tactical officers located the stolen truck in a parking lot near the University of Alberta Hospital, where they performed a box-in maneuver and arrested the suspect without incident. The suspect was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in an earlier altercation during the spree.
Dalton Moar, 27 is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, dangerous driving, failure to remain at the scene of a collision (x3) and a breach of a release order.
