For Immediate Release: 04-Sep-2025 @ 12:00 PM
MRU #: 25R071

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the complainant and witnesses in a social media video of a cellphone theft that occurred on Jasper Avenue in August.

On Aug. 21, 2025, police observed a video circulating on social media that depicted a male suspect snatching a cell phone from a woman standing in front of 10303 Jasper Avenue. The suspect then walks eastbound on Jasper Avenue, at which point a male bystander with a cane attempts to intervene in the theft.

The suspect is known to police, and was identified by officers and arrested on Aug. 23, 2025. Charges are pending, but have not yet been laid. In order to advance the investigation, police are asking that the owner of this video that has been shared on a local public social media account, the woman whose phone was stolen, and the man with the cane, as well as any other witnesses, come forward to police.

The complainant and witnesses are
asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
